Community College got a $5,000 boost from AT&T today.

国产AV President Stephen Vacik thanked Steve Hahn, President of AT&T Kansas, at a check presentation event in the Student Union on the 国产AV Community College campus.

鈥淎T&T and 国产AV realize that when students opt for higher education, it is critical to have support systems in place to help them adjust and keep them here to finish their degree,鈥 said Vacik.

Hahn said AT&T鈥檚 primary mission is keeping students in school, getting their diploma and preparing them for the workforce.

He noted that many first-time freshmen in college are also first-generation college students, and they may not have a support network.  AT&T supports and encourages programs that help them succeed and 国产AV addresses these issues.

According to Doug Johnson, Director of Student Support Services for 国产AV Community College, the Student Success Seminar is a class for first-time, full-time students with an emphasis on discussion, leadership and student involvement. Attention is focused on a student鈥檚 ability to make quality decisions in their relationships, stay organized, and prioritize high-value activities.鈥

To supplement Student Success Seminar, a student leadership day was held on September 14, 2012. This leadership conference focused on developing future leaders for 国产AV Community College. The aim was also to identify students to participate in a future peer mentoring program for all students on the 国产AV campus.
